Armand Larive Middle School's 2025-2026 ALTV program has been named a finalist for the National Scholastic Press Association's (NSPA) Pacemaker award in broadcasting, one of the highest honors in scholastic journalism. ALTV is among 18 schools in "finalists for excellence" nationwide, and 16 are high schools to make the list. This marks the first time ALTV has been named a finalist in this competition.
Winners will be selected from the finalist pool and announced on November 21 at the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention in Orlando, Florida. "Whether we win or not, making the finalist list among 16 high schools is huge for us," said Rob Doherty, broadcast teacher. ALTV submitted three of its monthly shows from the 2025-2026 school year for consideration.
